Paul McKeever was born in 1966 and raised in Oshawa, Ontario.
As a young lad, he was a boy scout leader (scout of the year), a swimming
instructor and a lifeguard. Digging ditches and jack-hammering
many a road, Paul earned his way through university
as a general labourer with Oshawa Public Works.
He earned his Honours Bachelor of Science degree
at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, where
he was on the Dean's list in his third and graduating
years. Paul earned a Masters degree in Psychology at the
University of Western Ontario, where he was awarded
a National Sciences and Engineering Research Council
scholarship in 1990. He was admitted to the Ph.D.
program in 1991 and completed a year of Ph.D. studies
before making the final decision to pursue a
degree in law at Western Law School. Paul graduated with
his law degree (LL.B.) in 1995 and articled with
Cohen, Highley, Vogel & Dawson in London,
Ontario before his February 1997 call to the
Ontario bar.
Paul McKeever opened his own civil litigation practice
in 1997 and continues to practise civil litigation
to date. His victories include the groundbreaking
2002 case of Ivens v. Automodular, in
which the Divisional Court of Ontario decided, for
the first time in Canadian history, that a woman's
pregnancy at the time of being dismissed from employment,
is to be considered when deciding how much notice,
or pay in lieu of notice, she should receive.
Paul McKeever founded, owns and operates mondopolitico.com,
a non-profit, non-partisan, educational political
web site designed to encourage greater involvement
and understanding in politics.
Paul is happily married, and is the proud father of two
young children. His concern for the future of Canada's
children, and about the debt that past federal governments
have left for them, is his chief motivation in offering
Canadians a real alternative to the tired and ineffective
proposals of Canada's old parties.
Paul's concern for the dignity and standard of living of
every Canadian is rooted in his committment to being
a just and upright man, and it is reflected in his
work and in the Policies of the Freedom Party of Canada.
His committment to individual freedom and personal
responsibility is unquestionable. He has been an influential
and active member of Freedom Party since 1992.
